IMMA launches its 2009 programme (Tuesday 3 March 2009)

compiled by Peter FitzGerald
A scarce hour ago, Minister for the Arts Martin Cullen launched the Irish Museum of Modern Art's 2009 programme. This year is front-loaded with a major show of (sometimes monumental) paintings by Hughie O'Donoghue (already open), and a collaboration with Project and the RHA to show works from the 1970s onwards by James Coleman (opens tomorrow evening). To come are outings for Calder Jewellery, Elizabeth Peyton, Terry Winters, Lynda Benglis and Alan Phelan, and it all ends with Picturing New York. There will also be a series of exhibitions drawing on IMMA's own collection of works, and various pieces will be installed in the grounds of IMMA during the year.
