CIT Crawford College of Art and Design’s new exhibition space on Wandesford Quay in Cork city centre will open with an exhibition from three students graduating in Master of Fine Art Research. Signalling the importance of the space as a resource for students, this show features Liz Cullinane, Mags Geaney and Roseanne Lynch, with the opening taking place on Friday 18 June at 5.30pm. This dedicated space allows students to interact with the requirements of, and possibilities inherent in, a professional space, allowing them to engage with methods of curation and critical pracitice, as well as exposing them to local and international artists. Such opportunities are also placed in the wider context of the cultural life of Cork, with the new space also supporting CIT’s desire to contribute to the creative and intellectual life of the city. Acting Head of CIT Crawford College of Art & Design, Orla Flynn, said “The establishment of the Wandesford Quay Gallery as a creative space is a significant step towards the advancement of a culture of creativity within the Institution itself and between the Institution and the broader community and region.”
The CIT CCAD Fine Art by Research Exhibition is free and open daily 10am to 6pm, from 19 – 26 June and 28 June – 1 July.
